Ethical leadership


The industry’s sense of social responsibility is stronger than ever, movements championing diversity and inclusivity are gathering momentum at an unprecedented pace and there’s a conscious increase in company initiatives making a positive impact within the wider world. To reflect this, and its commitment to driving change within the industry, IBC is for the primary time recognizing social responsibility as a part of its prestigious awards programmed with a stand-alone award – the Social Impact Award.


This year’s involves 
entries received an awesome response and with numerous impressive and impactful projects submitted the judges were moved to make three shortlists, recognizing initiatives focused on diversity and inclusivity, on minimizing environmental impact, and for the simplest ethical leadership.
Recognizing everything from projects making the industry more inclusive, both by ensuring clear career paths for ladies and in engagement with the young and therefore the disadvantaged, to attention on societal issues from drink driving to recycling, this year’s shortlist demonstrates the breadth of projects with in the industry working to enhance the planet  around us.

Shortlisted with in the 
Diversity and Inclusivity category are:

Flex, A BBC cultural transformation to introduce a replaceable  
flexible working policy, supporting career progression for ladies and men. As of July 2019, 80% of BBC vacancies are advertised with flexible working, both within the UK and globally Broadcast Academy, which provides a practical environment to develop technical and operational skills, with a specific emphasis on creating a various and multicultural talent pool and increasing number of girls in sports broadcasting. Broadcast Academy is a component of HBS,a corporation that specializes within the host broadcasting of sports events.
Journalism for Juniors, an initiative from Turkish broadcaster TRT which teaches disadvantaged children and refugee children – in Turkey and overseas – the thanks to tell their stories through the medium of journalism, not just to encourage them  to  make the career but to understand the importance of trusted information.
There are two finalists within the 
Environmental Impact category:

VoxA Omnichannel Engagement Platform , a complicated  
and extensive emergency alert and advisory platform for half a billion Indians living in India’s coastal communities, developed by Gaian Solutions for the govt. of India, Ministry of Earth Sciences.
Liquid Technology ,a pacesetter within the  
recycling of equipment , eliminating the danger of harmful materials like cadmium, lead and the rare earth element metals finding their way into landfill.

There are three finalists for ethical leadership which is the third category:

An immersive, computer game 
experience to place you within the shoes of a drunk driver and knowledge its agonizing consequences – created by BBDO DUBLIN and Inition for Irish Road Safety Authority (RSA)
Combining green filmmaking and artistic 
flair Chouette Films, an associate member of SOAS, University of London, crafts films with the ingredients to inspire social impact with the littlest possible environmental footprint
